The PatchingZone - Big South Event

The Big South Lab project will organize a final event to finish the project, that has been running for the past year. The final event will be held at The Creative Factory in Rotterdam, Maashaven Zuid Zijde 2

The theme of the even is: Make - Play - Show. All workshops given by the team prior to the final event will share this thematic link. During the event, the visitors will not only be actively involved (make-play) with all activities, but they will also be presented with the outcome of several workshops (show).

Three interactive installations will be shown, namely the VJacket, BroadbandBAND and LightMusic. The VJacket is a jacket wit sensors. By wearing the jacket and moving around you control several (video)images. BroadbandBAND is a group of musical instruments made out of everyday utensils.The instruments can be controlled online from all over the world. LightMusic based on several light sources, that can be moved around and by this movement a sculpture of sounds is created.

Outside of the event's location, a life-size projection is shown on the facade of the Maassilo. During the evening local hiphop artists of Rotterdam South will preform their skills.

The Broad Band Band presented at the Big South Event is made in collaboration between, Lars Kynde, Maartje van den Hurk and workshop participants from De Nieuwe Kans, Rotterdam.
